Grand Welcome, Incorporation, and Recognition Rites

The Grand Welcome, Incorporation and Recognition Rites (GWIRR) are both a tradition and an academic function. During the ceremony, freshmen are formally admitted to the Entrepreneurial Management Program. Incoming juniors who have successfully completed the first two years of the Program are also honored.
At the GWIRR, the freshman student receives the University pin, which symbolizes his formal admission into the Program and the recognition of his membership in the SMN/UA&P community. The incoming junior student receives a blazer bearing the logo of the EMP/SMN/UA&P. The Incorporation Rite for the incoming junior is also an acknowledgment and recognition of his successful “crossing of the equator” (from the Spanish academic act of recognition Paso del Ecuador). It signifies his commitment to continue to strive toward becoming a good person and a socially responsible and ethical entrepreneur.
The GWIRR is also the time when students who have excelled in their academic performance and/or who have demonstrated exemplary qualities/behaviors are given their Awards and presented with their respective Certificates of Recognition.

Graduation

The awarding of a degree of Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Management from the School of Management is premised on the satisfactory completion of the curricular requirements of the EM Program. A student who fails to meet the curricular requirements and whose new business venture fails to meet the standards set by the Program for a growing new business venture will not be eligible for graduation and the privileges accruing to a graduate of the Program.

Graduation Requirements

As a candidate for graduation, you must clear all academic deficiencies and/or other financial accountabilities with the University, and check with the records of the Registrar for the graduation requirements. You should have complied with all the requirements for graduation not later than a week after the final exams of your last school term. You are eligible for graduation only if you have successfully completed all these requirements. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremonies.

EMP Awards and Recognition

To recognize noteworthy academic and non-academic performance, the following awards will be granted to deserving students.

The Program Director’s List

This recognition is given to students who achieve a significant improvement in grade point average between the two most recent semesters, while attaining a cumulative GWA average of at least 1.75 without failing grades. The student must have enrolled in at least 18 units for each of the two most recent semesters under comparison. The Program Director’s List is posted on the EM Bulletin Boards at the end of each semester. The student also receives a Certificate of Recognition at the end of the year.
The Program Director, the respective Year Level Coordinator, and the faculty members of the corresponding year level collegially select the recipients of the PD Recognition for each section of every year level.

SMN Dean’s List

At the end of each semester, all students who obtain a GWA of at least 1.50 without any failing grades for the semester and have enrolled in at least 18 units are recognized by being included in the SMN Dean’s List. The students included in the SMN Dean’s List receive a Certificate of Recognition for academic performance.

EMP Graduation Honors and Awards

The EMP AWARD FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE is given to students obtain a GWA of at least 1.75 without any failing grade in any six semesters of the entire EM Program.
